National Pajama Program and local Motor Racing Outreach organization deliver PJs to Barium Springs Home for Children This week, the Pajama Program, headquartered in New York, delivered pajamas to the children at Barium Springs Home for Children. The pajamas were collected during a Motor Racing Outreach event held at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on Tuesday evening.
The following day, the founder of Pajama Program, Genevieve Piturro, presented more than 80 pajamas to the children at the Barium Springs Childcare Center. “The children and families here really appreciate any help that the community can provide for them,” says Tamara Johnson on staff at Barium Springs. “We are grateful to Motor Racing Outreach for including us in their outreach program this year.”
The Pajama Program was founded in 2001 and focuses on donating pajamas and books to children in need throughout the world. “The children we see don’t have a safe home with moms and dads to tuck them in,” Piturro said. “This gives them the comfort and love to let them know tomorrow is safe.” More information about the Pajama Project can be found at http://www.pajamaprogram.org/. The organization was featured on Oprah recently.
Motor Racing Outreach is made up of individuals from the NASCAR industry--including drivers, wives and crew chiefs. They collected and donated 2,500 pairs of pajamas that will be distributed throughout the region.
