Barium Springs Home for Children campus

 A Heart for Children

Kelsey Lambert is a fifth grader at Lake Norman Charter School in Huntersville, NC. She called us before Christmas and said she wanted to do something for the children here at Barium Springs. Her plan included contacting family and friends to tell them about Barium Springs and ask them for contributions towards her project. Kelsey said, "everyone I talked with wanted to help the kids here at Barium Springs and we want to do more if we can." Kelsey was not doing this for a class project or through her church; her mother Angie shared, "Kelsey's passion is children and animals. She keeps me busy with all of her suggestions for helping others."

Kelsey wanted to help children in need, those that struggle with the necessities of life. Well that would be our children in our More at Four program. We have 54 enrolled at the Statesville campus who's parents are struggling to make ends meet. Kim Mitcham, director of this program shared with Kelsey and Angie many of the parents live on less than $1,000 per month for their existence. Kelsey collected enough money to provide a pair of gloves for all 54 children, a bottle of bubble mix and a box of juice for their afternoon snack. She read all three classrooms a story and passed out the gloves by gender, pink or blue for the girls and black or brown for the boys.

Thank you Kelsey!
