He was a medically fragile one-year old diagnosed with cerebral palsy. On his birth certificate under his father's name it simply said, "Name Refused." Lucas has since been taken in by his father (who had never been told he had a son) and his loving family. He is doing exceptionally well and his health concerns have dramatically decreased.

Abigail: age 16
Abigail has lived at Rainbow Center cottages for over a year. Her dad is in prison for selling drugs and her mom is a drug addict. When she first moved to the cottages, she was failing her classes and had no interest in school. After only a few months at Rainbow Center, Abigail was on the A/B honor roll.
She has decided she wants to keep her grades up so she can attend Appalachian State University when she graduates in two years. Her dream is to become a teacher and work with at-risk youth.
