Emma came to us from an abusive family situation. The day she arrived, she was wearing a "lucky necklace." She told us it was lucky because it brought her here. She has now graduated high school and is doing very well.

Meet Kaitlyn. She was a victim of divorce.

When Kaitlyn was 8, her dad drained her mom’s bank account and took everything she had—her mom told him to pack his bags and get out of the house. Kaitlyn got off the bus one day after school with her brother and saw her dad had moved out and all that was left was a note. Kaitlyn was a daddy's girl so when he left, she was devastated. She didn't understand why he left because she was so young. She just knew she got home from school one day and her dad was gone.
Kaitlyn: age 16

At age 11, she started trying to fill the hole and emptiness in her heart by using drugs.  She started smoking pot, drinking alcohol, and smoking cigarettes.  Eventually, her addiction progressed and she starting doing cocaine and shooting up heroin.

She was sent to Barium Springs and placed in one of our group homes that focus on teens with Substance Abuse problems.  Ever since Kaitlyn’s been at Barium Springs, she realizes that drugs are not the answer and that she’s slowly killing herself by using.  That’s why we’re teaching her healthy ways to cope with her problems instead of resulting to blaming other people and using drugs to cover up her problems.

We hope you will help us put a stop to this cycle by supporting our mission.  We hope you will get involved and if you are able, help financially to continue healing the hurt for children like Kaitlyn.
