At Barium Springs Home for Children, we provide a caring place for children to live while helping them overcome isues that have not allowed them to succeed in a traditional family setting. Currently, we operate seven group homes and a foster care program. Five group homes are located in Barium Springs, NC. Two homes are located in North Wilkesboro, NC. We license many foster homes around the region for families to provide special care and treatment for children in their own homes. There are many different reasons children need our care. They might include:
an unstable family life
a victim of abuse or neglect
a special need for behavior intervention
Home should be a refuge where a child can find support and guidance from a loving family life. Many children, however, never experience this. At Baruim Springs, we provide stable, safe and caring environments so these children can overcome obstacles that will enable them to live successful and fulfilling lives in their own families and communities.
Children, ages 8-21, are referred to the Barium Springs' residential program a variety of ways. Children with more severe emotional or behavioral issues are placed in our psychiatric residential treatment facility or in a group home where professional Family-Teachers help them overcome their individual struggles. When a child is ready for less structure, he or she is placed back home with family or in a family foster home, gradually incorporating them back into a community setting.
